The Green Hub selects regionally produced clean fuels, smart kilometres and sustainable innovations. Every day it brings a sound, green economy for the Arnhem-Nijmegen region closer to becoming a reality.
The Green Hub is a partnership of businesses, educational institutes and government bodies in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region. These parties work together intensively towards the energy transition from fossil fuels to biofuels and towards a green regional economy. Thus, they have opted for:
- the production and use of green gas from biomass, collected regionally or further afield
- achieving synergy between energy transition and a bio-based economy
- a mixed strategy in the transition to sustainable motorisation: the focus is on green gas as well as electricity and hydrogen technology
- good collaboration between governments and a joint approach for both The Hague and Brussels
Green regional economy
Inhabitants and businesses in the Arnhem-Nijmegen region pay € 800 million annually to international providers for oil, diesel and gasoline - money which The Green Hub believes could be better spent within the region itself. Green gas from biomass, hydrogen and solar and wind electricity can be produced within the region, by regional players. A growing number of companies are already participating in this green regional economy, sharing the idea that green growth, profits and fair competition complement each other.
